Sustainability

All of the materials we use are vegan, free of animal testing, and most have been Leaping Bunny certified.

  • Vessels
    • In order to prevent adding waste to our environment, we are solely using existing antiques or recycled vessels.
    • Due to this, our vessels may have some minor imperfections but we strive to limit them and note them on the individual product page.
    • We do not brand or label  the vessels so they are more aesthetically pleasing and easier for you to enjoy them in their next incarnation of your choosing.
    • Wax
      • All candles are made from 100% all-natural soy wax, produced from US Grown Soybeans.
      • Our candles are free of additives, dyes, phthalates, or oil based petroleum products.
      • The most important reason to use soy candles is that they burn “clean”. Paraffin wax releases toxins as they burn and Beeswax is non-vegan so this makes soy the obvious better environmental choice.
      • Candles may have minor imperfections which can occur when using 100% soy wax, but we will do our best to limit them and note them on the Product page.
      • Wicks
        • We use two different types of wicks (Wooden & Vegan Hemp) so please refer to the product page to see what is being used for each candle.
          • Vegan Hemp
            • Made with organic rice bran wax and hemp fiber.
            • Wooden
              • Eco-friendly, clean-burning, hand-crafted wooden wicks
              • FSC Certified 100% natural wood from Sappy Fruit Trees sustainably sourced in the USA.
              • Wicks are created using a vegan, non-toxic proprietary adhesive with wood species not listed in the CITED appendices or on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. They are not treated.
          • Fragrances
            • All scents are free from carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and other potentially hazardous chemicals often found in fragrances. These create safer home fragrance products you can enjoy with confidence.
          • Dust Cover Seed Paper
            • Made with recycled post-consumer materials that are embedded with Non-GMO seeds which will grow when planted in soil.
            • All candles come with a dust cover; however some will not fit properly over the candle due to its size and/or number of wicks, which in this case it will be included separately.
          • Hang Tag
            • Uncoated premium 16-pt paper.
          • Elastic
            • Organic elastic cord made from organic cotton (40%) and natural rubber (60%), unbleached.
            • This is used to attach the hang tag for some vessels
          • Twine
            • 100% jute twine
            • This is used to attach the hang tag for some vessels.
          • Tape
            • Cellulose film with an adhesive derived from solvent-based natural rubber.
            • This is used, in some cases, to adhere the elastic or twine to the vessel.
          • Packaging
            • All packaging is completely plastic-free.
          • Boxes
            • Made from corrugated cardboard.
          • Candle Wrap
            • Made from kraft paper and tissue paper. It is a sustainable alternative to bubble wrap, which is 100% biodegradable and curbside recyclable.
          • Box Filler
            • Crinkle Paper
              • Paper is dye free so it is non-toxic to humans and animals.
            • Bio Peanuts
              • Made from entirely renewable resources and are 100% bio-degradable and compostable as well as pet-safe.
              • Repurposed from vendor packaging.
